The Excellence in Leadership Award recognizes the outstanding achievement and dedication of one exemplary DCPS principal with a $10,000 award. The Rubenstein Awards for Highly Effective Leadership recognize the success of five DCPS school leaders with a $5,000 award.
Award winners were nominated by DCPS educators, students, parents, and community members, and then selected by a DCPS central office panel. The awards are funded through the generosity of David Rubenstein, co-founder and managing director of the Carlyle Group and chairman of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
The Excellence in Leadership and Rubenstein Award for Highly Effective Leadership winners are recognized at the annual Standing Ovation for DC Public Schools, hosted by DC Public Education Fund and held at the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts.
