Lisa D. Putman is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) for the District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS), overseeing the agency's day-to-day operations by leading teams responsible for Strategic School Operations and Logistics, Facilities and School Planning, Food and Nutrition Services, School Security, and Compliance. As a former teacher, she takes pride in ensuring safe, secure, and welcoming learning environments that prioritize the well-being of students across DCPS. 

Lisa brings over 25 years of experience in education to her role as COO. In her previous capacity, Lisa was DCPS’ Deputy Chief of Strategic School Operations & Logistics where her main duties included supporting schools during the global health emergency, overseeing incident response, and ensuring emergency drill compliance. Prior to her tenure at DCPS, Lisa's diverse professional background included reviewing grants for the Department of Education, performing editorial roles at WriteTouch, and serving as a manager with the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. 

Lisa holds a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication from Bowie State University, a Master of Education in Curriculum & Instruction from Howard University and is currently pursuing a Certificate in Education Administration from Catholic University.
