Mr. Jon Rolle is entering his 18th year in the field of education—eight of those years have been with DCPS). With experience at the middle and elementary levels within both the public and public charter school sectors, Mr. Rolle has taught and led in Philadelphia, PA, and Washington, DC. In his last year in the classroom, he was named the 2011 DC Teacher of the Year by the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE).  

In 2015, Mr. Rolle joined DCPS as Dean of Students at Stanton Elementary, where he led culture for grades K-2 and supported strategic intervention for scholars. When he transitioned to serve as Stanton’s English Language Arts (ELA) Instructional Coach, he oversaw the department’s double-digit PARCC proficiency gains and double-digit decreases in PARCC Level 1 scores. Following Stanton, Mr. Rolle became a founding Assistant Principal at Ida B. Wells Middle School. Most recently, Mr. Rolle served as the RISE (Rigorous Instruction Supports Equity) Resident Principal at Smothers Elementary School. 

Mr. Rolle holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from North Carolina State University and a Master of Science in Urban Education from The University of Pennsylvania. As a staunch champion for equity throughout his career, Mr. Rolle prioritizes ensuring that scholars have access to essential support to thrive academically. He believes that all school community members are integral to the school's success. Mr. Rolle strives for all scholars to feel loved, cared for, and valued while achieving ambitious academic results.
