Browne Education Campus
Shawna Dix has been selected as the next principal of Browne Education Campus. Ms. Dix was most recently an Assistant Principal at Hardy Middle School, one of the three 5-STAR middle schools within DC Public Schools, where she led both the 6th grade and Social Studies teams. While at Hardy she also worked with the Special Education department, served as the curriculum writer for Hardy's Advisory Program, and supervised both the attendance and enrollment teams. In addition to leading several teams, Ms. Dix created the Hardy Leadership Academy to grow and support leaders in the building. In her DCPS career, Ms. Dix was also a teacher at Phelps ACE High School and an assistant principal at Eastern High School.
During School Year 2019-2020, Ms. Dix received a Highly Effective rating as a school leader, and this year she was honored with a DCPS Standing Ovation award for “Leading through a Year of Change.”
Ms. Dix received her Bachelor of Science degree in English Language Arts Education at Alabama A&M University, and a master’s in education from Strayer University. In October 2020, she formally completed the DCPS Leadership and Innovation Program (LIP) at Georgetown University.
