Ron Brown College Preparatory High School
Reggie Hunt graduated from Morehouse College, a historically black men's college, with a bachelor’s degree in English, and started his teaching career at his high school alma mater in North Carolina. It was during his first year as a teacher that he felt he had an exceptional ability to reach and motivate students. His passion led to helping young men of color achieve academic growth, accomplish their goals, and build proficiency in English.
After several years as a classroom teacher, Mr. Hunt received a Masters of School Administration and accepted a position as a Title I instructional coach. In 2017, after three years as an Assistant Principal, Mr. Hunt accepted his first Principal position at Winston-Salem Preparatory Academy, a middle and high magnet school that works to prepare first-generation college students to enter and graduate from four-year colleges and universities.
During his time at Winston-Salem, students achieve positive growth in both English and Math, the school's graduation rate rose nearly 19 percent in a single year, and students were able to visit several four-year colleges and universities through a grant Principal Hunt worked tirelessly to secure. Through his efforts as a school turnaround principal, Mr. Hunt was honored by Black Business Ink Magazine as one of the 40 under 40 Most Influential African Americans in the Triad (Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and High Point, North Carolina) in 2020.
