The District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS), Office of Teaching and Learning (OTL), Early Childhood Education Division (ECED), has an immediate need to obtain a program evaluation of the ECE Learning Lab Program.  The DCPS-ECED program is responsible for the successful implementation of the Head Start School-Wide Model (HWWSM) to ensure compliance with Head Start federal regulations.  The HSSWM is a non-traditional service model that relies on the blending of Head Start and local pre-kindergarten funding to provide high quality pre-kindergarten services to children and families within DCPS.

In SY 2017-2018, ECED launched a new initiative, the Early Childhood Education (ECE) Learning Lab.  ECE Learning Lab classrooms demonstrate the integration of the Head Start School Wide Model by strengthening ECE teaching practices and classroom environments in a select set of schools and communities deemed as highest need.
