Principal, Cardozo Education Campus
Principal Tanya Roane is an innovative and driven instructional leader with a passion for finding ways to support students in being ready for college, career, and life. She is serving in her fourth year as the principal of Cardozo Education Campus. Principal Roane leads her team in providing students with an environment where they can learn based upon their individual needs and abilities. Each day she works to ensure Cardozo is a supportive community built on mutual respect and support that encourages students to become life-long learners.
Principal Roane is inspired by the words of scholar, Dr. Cornel West, “You can’t lead the people if you don’t love the people. You can’t save the people if you don’t serve the people.” Her love for her students motivated her to support the growing population of English Language Learners at Cardozo by starting an International Academy. “What was unique about our population of students was that many of them had experienced interrupted schooling in their own countries. When an opportunity was presented to bring an International Academy to Cardozo I was ecstatic. This program is exciting because it simultaneously addresses and supports the needs of a changing population, and focuses on ensuring students are proficient and will graduate within four years. This is why I do this work!”
Principal Roane stays motivated seeing the transformation in her students. “Every day it excites me to see students who feel strongly that they can achieve anything they want once they set their minds to it.” She continues to ensure that all students at Cardozo are afforded an opportunity to receive a quality education that gives them the skills that they need to compete in a globalized society.
